In our latest blog, we chat with our Program Manager, Paul Kancachian.
Hi Paul, Can you tell us about your role at One Nexus?
As Program Manager for Ford Trade Club, based in Australia, my role is split between client-facing engagement and managing the local One Nexus team. One Nexus is regarded as a subject matter expert in parts wholesale, so much of my work involves collaborating with clients on go-to-market and dealer strategies. I also lead the local One Nexus team, which includes eight highly skilled Trade Sales Development Managers, as well as Dealer Customer Support and Parts Marketing support. In addition, I work closely with our UK-based team and our local Creative Account Manager and Collision Specialist. Together, we are a highly collaborative and effective team that continues to deliver strong results year on year for our clients and the business.
What is your experience in the automotive industry so far?
I joined Ford Motor Company in Australia shortly after finishing university and have worked there on and off for more than 26 years. During that time, I’ve had the opportunity to work across Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Development, Marketing, and Sales.
I’ve witnessed significant transformation within the automotive industry, and these experiences have strongly shaped my approach to leadership and people management.
How has your journey with One Nexus been so far?
Exceptional. When I first joined One Nexus, I thought I’d move on after five years. Nearly 14 years later, I still look forward to coming to work and contributing to something meaningful.
What would you say you enjoy most about your job?
As cliché as it may sound, it’s the people — past and present, both local and international.
The culture at One Nexus is genuinely special, and even those who have moved on often say the same thing: there’s an intangible energy across the team that makes the journey unique.
What was it about One Nexus that made you want to get involved?
Opportunities to build something from the ground up don’t come along often.
One Nexus gave me the chance to create something new and innovative that hadn’t been done in any Ford market before, and that was impossible to turn down.
Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
When I’m not spending time with my family, I’m usually playing guitar — either at home or with friends. Music has always been a big part of my life.
If I’m not playing in a band, you’ll likely find me out watching one.
Finally, what is one thing you would like readers to know about yourself or One Nexus that they might not know already?
While most of my career has been in the automotive industry, I did step away from the automotive industry for seven years to explore other interests.
That time gave me valuable insight into how other global organisations tackle similar challenges, and it also allowed me to travel the world.
